Nov. 30, 2020 -- With COVID-19 vaccines on the horizon, employers and business leaders may be ready to start thinking more concretely about what steps to take before teleworking employees and online and curbside customers return to buildings.
To help with those plans, GoTriangle is offering a new Mission Impossible webinar at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10. John Staley, Ph.D., of the University of North Carolina’s Gillings School of Global Public Health, will talk about the basics of infection prevention and control in the workplace.
The discussion will cover considerations for businesses as they plan to reopen amid the COVID-19 pandemic as well as how employees can prepare to protect themselves and their families upon returning to the worksite. Staley also will offer tips for engaging employees and managers in prioritizing safety.

Staley is the director of Outreach and Continuing Education for the North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Education Research Center at UNC-Chapel Hill. He has more than 20 years of experience as a public health policy and management expert, including occupational safety and health micro- and macro-level management.
The Mission Impossible: Returning to the Worksite webinar is the third in GoTriangle’s web series of 60-minute conversations on hot topics. The series kicked off in July with experts providing cybersecurity and ergonomics tips and resources to help teleworking employees be more productive, healthy and safe and employers be more resilient and profitable.
The Employer Services Transportation Demand Management Department – which created the series – helps employers and universities recruit and retain employees and students by providing options to driving alone. TDM extends GoTriangle’s reach by developing telework programs, forming vanpools and carpools and creating bicycle and pedestrian campaigns.
These services and programs have significant impacts on commuting patterns, traffic congestion, personal health and finances and air quality in the Triangle.
