GoTriangle Prepares for Winter Weather

As the first winter storm of 2017 makes its way toward North Carolina, the GoTriangle operations team is checking equipment and preparing buses to help safely get people where they need to go “Safety is our number one priority. We are watching the forecast closely, and getting our crews and gear ready ahead of the storm, to provide the best possible service for our customers, said Tellis Chandler, GoTriangle’s Bus Operations Director. “Snow and ice can greatly impact our ability to continue safe operations, so we urge our riders to monitor conditions and check for service updates throughout the storm.”

Follow this advice to stay safe when the weather is inclement:

Before heading to a bus stop, GoTriangle encourages customers to dress in layers of warm clothes and wear slip-resistant footwear in case your bus is delayed. (In bad weather, buses may run behind schedule because operators are asked to drive slowly and put safety first.

As safety is our first priority, we recommend arriving to your bus stop 10 minutes early and always walk, never run. In addition, keep at least 15 feet between you and the bus as it approaches and until it comes to a complete stop; and use handrails when stepping on and off the bus as it can be slippery.

GoTriangle offers safe, reliable, and easy-to-use travel choices including bus, bike, walking, carpool, and vanpool.
